The Loneliness That Kindness Can’t Reach
Loneliness
something we all suffer at some point in time.
No one to talk to.
No company.
No one to care for.
No one to be cared by.
A constant struggle for some of us.
You can be lonely in the shadows.
But you can also be lonely surrounded by people.
Surrounded by those you care about.
Surrounded by those who care about you.
And still
feel alone.
It’s not that they aren’t there.
It’s that they aren’t with you.
Not mentally. Not emotionally.
When the people who love you don’t understand you
don’t know what goes on in your head,
don’t see the weight you carry
that’s what true loneliness is.
To be surrounded,
but not connected.
To be seen,
but not understood.
To be heard,
but misinterpreted.
And when you feel this way,
That's when kindness really hurts.
We appreciate it.
We do.
But it hits the wrong spot.
It makes us feel worthless
It makes us feel like we’re a burden.
An inconvenience.
Undeserving of the care we receive.
It’s a pain so immense it makes us sob at night.
And for me
that’s why I put on the act.
That’s why I say
I'm fine
F-eeling
I-solated
N-umb
and
E-xhausted.
