28 - Keeping the Body Alive While the Mind Wanders
Eating.
Sleeping.
Drinking.
All essential things to keep myself here.
But sometimes,
even that feels like a chore.
There are days I go without any of it.
Not because I’m not hungry,
or thirsty, or tired,
but because keeping this body alive just to survive feels like a burden.
Sometimes I’m so caught up in my thoughts that I forget I’m hungry.
My body sends signals,
but they go ignored.
And when I finally respond,
I just grab whatever’s nearby
not to enjoy, but to silence the noise.
Same with drinking.
My mouth can feel as dry as a desert,
but I forget to drink.
And sleep
I dread sleep.
Because I know that when I open my eyes again,
I’ll have to start everything
all over again.
